Dear Neighbor

My name is Michilla Blaise, and I am running for the Chicago Board of Education in the 5th District. I am excited to have an opportunity to be a part of this inaugural year of the first elected school board.

So many Chicagoans fought hard to have a say in their children's educational options and this campaign is the culmination of those efforts.

Personal Experience with CPS

As the mom of two girls in Chicago Public Schools, I have experienced the excellence and challenges of CPS, and I am dedicated to ensuring a quality education for all students. Aside from being an active parent throughout my children's education, professionally, I currently volunteer as Board Secretary for West Side Justice Center, as well as a Board Commissioner for Northwest Home Equity Assurance Program.

I am most proud of my time as Executive Director of Judicial Accountability PAC, and the 2018 campaign and coalition we lead to unseat a corrupt judge for the first time in 30 years. Additionally, the two years I spent as a Board Member for Grassroots Curriculum Task Force solidified my understanding of how our educational system is just as relevant to our children's learning, as the materials taught in schools.

Commitment to Public Service

I began in public service in 2007 as a staff member for an alderperson, ran my own political consulting firm (Blaise and Associates) for 12 years, helping many candidates and issues get the attention they deserved, and currently, I am Chief of Staff for a Cook County Commissioner.

A Call to Action

Your support Matters

I am a lifelong Chicagoan, and four generations of my family live on the west side. George Blaise and I have been married for 21 years, and I am the proud mother of two young ladies, aged 13 and 15 years old. I humbly request your consideration for Chicago School Board on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024.
